Tina Giordano

M.A., M.Ed. | Psy.D. Psychology Doctoral Practicum Student

My Approach

Tina uses a strength-based and compassionate approach to therapy. She works with patients to uncover and highlight their existing strengths and motivations to build upon them in therapy. Tina creates a peaceful and safe environment that enables patients to further explore their lives to clarify and pursue personally meaningful goals. She develops a strong therapeutic relationship with patients through genuineness and curiosity. Tina recognizes that growth is not linear and that a patient’s emotional, cognitive, and behavioral experiences are interconnected. She helps patients examine the systems and relationships that shape their lives and guides them in identifying patterns which support or hinder them. She believes that times of transition are an opportunity for growth and is skilled at working with patients navigating life transitions, such as the transition to university. Tina believes patients bring a unique toolbox into therapy and works with them to continue to develop it. Drawing on evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Family Therapy, Tina tailors her approach to the unique needs of each patient.
