Anna Piparo

LSW

My Approach

Anna uses a warm, person-centered approach with her patients. She believes that building a therapeutic relationship grounded in safety, trust, empathy, and curiosity is essential to her practice. By being a calm, non-judgmental, and relaxed therapist, Anna creates an atmosphere where you can be your authentic self.

As a social worker, Anna takes a systemic approach by exploring the many factors that may be impacting your life, including work, school, family, society, and systems of oppression. She specializes in working with children, preteens, teens, and young adults, while also enjoying work with individuals across the lifespan.

Anna brings her authentic self into therapy and connects with patients using developmentally appropriate strategies that foster joy and self-expression. She believes that you are the expert in your own life and strives to partner with you in creating the life you envision. Recognizing that there is no one-size-fits-all approach, Anna meets you where you are by using evidence-based modalities tailored to your goals. She incorporates self-regulation techniques, sensory experiences, play, movement, and family or caregiver support when appropriate. Through her strengths-based approach, Anna supports patients in feeling more grounded, centered, and fulfilled throughout the therapeutic process.

About Anna Piparo

My Experience

Anna has always been drawn to helping others and is inspired by the power of human connection. While earning her Bachelor of Science in Music at Northwestern University, she sang to patients with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia through a nonprofit organization that brings professional musicians to memory care units. Before becoming a therapist, Anna worked as a behavior technician providing Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) therapy to children and adolescents on the autism spectrum.

Anna earned her Master of Social Work from Loyola University Chicago on the Advanced Clinical track, with specializations in work with children, adolescents, trauma, and grief. During her MSW training, she became certified in the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT), an approach that informs her understanding of how developmental trauma impacts neurodevelopment and guides her in creating individualized, developmentally attuned interventions.

Anna’s clinical experience includes providing individual and group therapy at a bereavement camp for children, within a school setting, and at a shelter serving unaccompanied immigrant children prior to joining private practice. These experiences have strengthened her trauma-informed, relational approach to care. While much of her work has centered on youth, Anna enjoys working with individuals across the lifespan as they navigate the unique challenges and transitions of different life stages.
As a social worker, Anna approaches therapy through a systemic lens grounded in compassion, cultural humility, and respect for each person’s right to self-determination.
