You’ve taken the first step and made an appointment for your child with a therapist – now what? YOUNG CHILD THERAPY SESSIONS
Therapy for young children does not look like traditional talk therapy as most young children learn by doing. Typically play therapy will be used for young children which is a combination of playing games, art activities, movement and talking. Play therapy techniques will be used to help the child develop a warm, friendly connection with the therapist as well as help the child communicate their own needs. Our office has a variety of tools to create a safe space for play therapy including games, fidget toys, emotion activities, a dollhouse for learning and acting out social/family dynamics, and art materials.

The carefree beach days have now switched to a busy school calendar or later days at the office. Fall can bring new routines, comfy sweater weather, and cute decorations, but also can be a source of stress and anxiety. Many of us turn our focus to our phones by using calendars, apps, texting and just spending hours scrolling through non-sense. We can also use apps on our phones to help us gain insight into our mental health needs.
Mental Health apps can be a valuable tool as support to improve our overall health and well-being. These apps create a reward system and help us have accountability. Here are some considerations in choosing an app that is right for you. It is important to choose an app that aligns with your specific mental health needs. You may be needing help with tracking your mood, regulating your sleep, or looking for new healthy coping skills and self-care. Read the privacy policy to ensure that data is protected and check to make sure the apps are using scientific validated therapy techniques.
