Mel Lockwood
LPC
My Approach
Mel’s therapy style is patient centered, relational, and grounded in compassion, curiosity, and respect. Mel prioritizes creating a calm, safe, and nonjudgmental space where patients feel genuinely understood and supported, recognizing that meaningful change begins with a strong therapeutic relationship. Drawing from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, cognitive behavioral approaches, and strengths based work, Mel helps patients of various ages gently explore patterns in thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while building greater flexibility, self awareness, and self trust. Many patients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck in cycles of self criticism or perfectionism, navigating anxiety or low mood, or struggling to make sense of attention, motivation, or emotional regulation challenges. Mel works collaboratively and incorporates developmentally appropriate strategies and creative interventions when helpful to support patients in clarifying what matters most to them, developing practice tools for coping and growth, and cultivating a more compassionate relationship with themselves.
