My Approach

Abby is a strengths-based, compassionate therapist who specializes in working with children, preteens, teens, young adults and families. There is no more important resource than our young people, and it can take the support of a connective therapist to help raise them to their highest potential. In her calming, non-judgemental space, clients can explore their emotions, build confidence, and set meaningful goals for themselves. Her clients are often struggling with big feelings like anxiety and anger, engaging in maladaptive behaviors, seeking their personal voice and identity, or dealing with significant changes in their environments like divorce, a new home, or a new school.

Abby approaches each challenge with empathy and curiosity to restore healthy functioning in their lives. Through high interest therapeutic activities rooted in evidence-based modalities, she helps children undersatnd themselves better and develop healthier ways to cope and connect.

About Abby Allen

My Experience

Abby received her Bachelor of Arts & Sciences in English Literature from Creighton University. She went on to receive her Master Social Work from Aurora University where she specialized in school social work, completing clinical internships with teens and preteens in both a community mental health center for youth and the educational setting.

She has worked in the Glenview school system for the last seven years. She teaches children of all ages and presentations how to have productive relationships, intervene on maladaptive behaviors, cope with overwhelming feelings, face grief and loss, explore their gender and sexuality, and develop their overall sense of self, identity and connectedness.

As popular culture, politics, parenting, technology, and evidence-based approaches are always shifting, so is Abby’s curiosity and learning about how to do best what she loves most – helping young people grow into healthy, happy adults!
